Biennial Local and Family History Fair MT. GRAVATT
SHOWGROUNDS, LOGAN ROAD, MT. GRAVATT STALL BOOKINGS: There are still some spaces available. Thank you very much to those groups who have sent in their Stall Bookings already. It really helps with our forward planning. Please let me know if you need Electricity on the day. Just a reminder that the size of the stall area is 2m x 2m. SPONSORS: Our thanks to those who have already sponsored our fair and donated prizes towards the day. Queensland State Archives, National Archives, Garrison Communications, David Larkin, Find my Past, Livias Gourmet Catering, and Greenbank Services Club. BROCHURES FOR SAMPLE BAGS: We need brochures, booklets etc. to fill the sample bags. I hope everyone is out there collecting brochures for us. ROCHEDALE SOUTH. Q. 4123 We need them to arrive prior to 16th May 2008. SAMPLE BAG FILLING: We will be filling sample bags on Sunday 18th May from 10.00 a.m., at 6 Ackworth Place, Alexandra Hills. If you or any of your group are available for the day please let me know. Even if you can only give us a couple of hours it would be greatly appreciated. We will provide tea and coffee as well as food to keep you going. ADVERTISING: As we are only 6 weeks away from the Fair we are asking all groups who have a website to advertise the date for us, also the Tell Us Your Story competition. Date for final submissions is Friday 25th April. If you have any contacts at radio stations, newspapers, etc. maybe you could convince them to advertise for us. Just let me know if you think of anything. If you have any ideas for the placing of Flyers etc. please let me know. We will get them out to libraries etc. as soon as possible. VOLUNTEERS ON THE DAY: As with any event we will need helpers on Saturday (31st May) to help prepare the buildings etc. for the Fair, as well as on the day of the Fair (Sunday 1st June). There will be helpers needed at both gates as well as Information Booths situated at each door. General Handymen/women are needed for lots of jobs on both day. If you can help out, even for an hour or so, please let me know. FAIR DINNER: Once again we have organised a Dinner for Saturday 31st May, to be held at the Musgrave Room. Robertson Gardens, Kessels Road, Mt. Gravatt. Cost $45.00 per head. Master of Ceremonies for the night will be Niles Elvery from Queensland State Archives. Professor John Pearn will be Guest Speaker on the night. Come along and join in the fun. I have attached a form to order tickets. I need Bookings by 16th May. FAIR TICKETS: TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW - $10.00 EACH. They are available by mailing to The Secretary, P. O. Box 399, MT. GRAVATT. 4122 TELL US YOUR STORY COMPETITION: Please send in your entries as soon as possible to ensure we have time to read them. Judging will be carried out by staff from Queensland State Archives. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Annual General Meeting of History Queensland Inc. will be held at Mt. Gravatt Showgrounds on Saturday 31 May 2008 at 1.30 p.m. There is no election of office bearers at this meeting. All welcome. MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS Just a reminder that all Memberships are due for renewal prior to 31st March 2008. If you haven’t paid already please put this on your list.
