Public Liability Insurance
Public Liability Insurance costs, particularly for small non-profit groups, can be an expense beyond their means.
On average, HQ Inc, through its insurance broker, offers Public Liability Insurance for about half the cost our smaller member groups would pay if they were not covered by our blanket group insurance.
In 1998, public liability insurance quotes were in the realm of $150 for $5 million coverage. By 2001, this cost had increased considerably. From our newsletter dated November 2001, Kay Ryan wrote:
In the wake of the terrorist attacks in the USA and the collapse of HIH Insurance, public liability insurance premiums have increased markedly with many events scheduled for Queensland facing an uncertain future as a result.
To assist our members, our Public Liability Insurance was initiated. Currently coverage offered is $10 million, which will be increased to $20 million this coming insurance year, commencing on 14 November 2010. If your group requires the additional coverage in the meantime, please contact the society.
