HQ Membership

Who is eligible to join History Queensland

Our constitution (2011) limits membership to:

Member Societies whose representatives must be nominated members of "duly constituted non-profit genealogical, family history or historical societies in the State of Queensland"

Associate Members being special interest groups and/or persons who may or may not have a membership of an affiliated society. Such members have no voting rights.

Honorary Members and Life Members

Membership is available to:

Member Societies whose representatives must be nominated members of ‘duly constituted non-profit genealogical, family history or historical societies in the State of Queensland’. 

Associate Members being special interest groups and/or persons who may or may not have membership of affiliated societies. The special interest groups and/or persons which/who carry out non-profit activities the pursuit of genealogy, family or history. Such members have no voting rights.

Honorary Members and Life Members as prescribed under the by-laws of the association.

Annual fees are:
Society with up to 50 members:  $22.00
Society with 51 to 100 members: $38.50
Society with more than 100 members:  $55.00

Renewing Membership
History Queensland membership is due on the 1st of April each year.

To Join HQ

An applicant for membership of the association must be proposed by one member of the association (the proposer) and seconded by another member (the seconder).

An application for membership must be;

In writing

Signed by the applicant and the applicants' proposer and seconder

In the form decided by the management committee.

Note. The Management Committee is happy to accept applications from interested societies without a mover and seconder. When the application meets the criteria as stated above, committee members move and second applications on behalf of the organisations they represent.

Payment Methods

Please note on your transfer your society name plus ‘membership’ fee and email the society on secretary@historyqueensland.org.au to advise when payment is made. Please do not use initials in your reference as there are other societies with similar initials.
