History Queensland's six-monthly meeting

Was hosted by Peachester History Committee - Saturday 20 November 2021

Many thanks to Peachester History Committee for hosting the History Queensland general meeting yesterday - a generous morning tea and lunch, interesting speakers, and a chance to visit the Heritage Centre.

Niles Elvery, Senior Archivist at Queensland State Archives, gave an interesting presentation on the history of the Peachester School. After the business of the meeting, Helen Page gave an interesting talk about the Peachester area from the early days to now, and that was followed by a tour of the amazing Heritage Centre the group has created full of a wide variety of memorabilia from the area. It was an enjoyable day for all who attended.  Thank you

The 2020 History Queensland AGM

A huge thanks to those who contributed to the success of the first Zoom AGM. It was the end of an era as we said 'Thank You and Happy Retirement' to committee members Marie Green and Marionne Diggles, and to our webmaster John Perryn. All three have made significant and long-term commitments to History Queensland and will be greatly missed. They are going to continue working in other areas in the history sphere so you will see them around. Best wishes to all three. We welcomed Sandy Liddle to our Management Committee. Sandy has great credentials and is President of the Wynnum Manly Historical Society and is their newsletter editor and involved in a couple of other societies.
